INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY
TomoTherapy is a new, revolutionary way to treat cancer with radiation, and benefits patients with many different tumor types. Daily CT-guided patient positioning ensures precise targeting, and adjustments can be made for changes such as the tumor regression. Radiation is delivered with rotating beamlets in a spiral delivery pattern. Dr Keit is the first physician in Nebraska to offer Tomotherapy.

Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) is a radiation treatment that is delivered through multiple "modulated" fields to shape the prescribed dose around tumor targets while sparing as much normal tissues as possible. IMRT is used to treat cancers of the head, neck prostate, pancreas, rectum, cervix and uterus.
Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) uses pencil thin beams of radiation focused on small tumors of the brain and spine. SRS can sometimes be used to treat small tumors of the lung, liver, and other sites.
B-mode Acquisition and Targeting (BAT) Ultrasound Tumor Localization is used to verify prostate location for treatment, and results in improved precision in targeting prostate cancers.
Stereoscopic Tumor Localization is a method used to direct the radiation beam and adds to the precision and accuracy of a treatment.
Respiratory Gating is a treatment planning method to track the movement of lung tumors during the breathing cycle.
NEBRASKA'S LEADER IN BRACHYTHERAPY
Prostate Temporary Implants - High Dose Rate Brachytherapy (HDR) is the next generation of prostate brachytherapy using small catheters placed in the prostate. A highly radioactive seed is passed through the catheters into the prostate for a few minutes. The treatment is usually repeated 3 times over 24 hours. There is no radiation exposure to family members; it is highly effective and generally has fewer side effects than other treatment options. Dr Keit is the first in Nebraska to offer HDR prostate treatment, and has performed over 300 procedures.
High Dose Rate Brachytherapy (HDR) can also be used to treat a variety of other tumors, such as of the lung, breast, uterus and esophagus. Dr Keit is the first radiation oncologist in Nebraska to offer HDR treatment for cervical cancer.
Prostate Seed Implants - Low Dose Rate Brachytherapy (LDR) Small radiation sources are permanently implanted into the prostate. The "seeds" slowly give off their radiation over a period of months.
